Learning in public
growing
There's something uncomfortable about sharing work before it's done. But I keep coming back to the idea that the process of learning is often more interesting — and more useful to others — than the finished conclusion.
The case for it
When you learn in public:
- You force yourself to articulate things clearly
- Others can correct you early before bad models calcify
- People who are at your level right now can follow along — the expert's finished essay is often too far ahead
The risk
You're wrong in public. Ideas half-formed look half-formed.
But I think I'd rather be visibly learning than invisibly confused.
